Join
Scott Jarrett (Maricopa County), Constance Hargrove (Pima County), and Michael Tobin (Yavapai County) as they share why poll workers are essential to our democracy and how you can get involved.

Since 2020, the League of Women Voters has partnered with Power the Polls, a nonpartisan initiative that connects individuals with poll worker opportunities in their local communities. This partnership allows us to direct potential recruits through a League-specific portal: powerthepolls.org/LWV. We encourage all members and supporters to help promote this link on personal and League social media platforms.
Whether you can sign up to be a poll worker yourself, or simply help spread the word, your engagement helps safeguard our elections and uplift our communities. Let’s power the polls together.
To learn more about what it means to serve as a poll worker, check out this article from LWVUS:  Being an Election Worker 101

The League of Women Voters of Arizona welcomes Attorney General Kris Mayes’ August 18, 2025 opinion (I25-007), which makes clear that county recorders cannot cancel or downgrade voter registrations based solely on missing documentary proof of citizenship (DPOC) in legacy records.

Arizona Legislature - Wrap-up

Arizona Legislature- 2025- Fifty-seventh Legislature - First Regular Session

2025 LWVAZ Advocacy & Action : Legislative Wrap-up

Described variously as a train wreck, dumpster fire, topsy-turvy, and quarrelsome (Governor description), the 2025 legislative session of the Fifty-seventh Legislature's First Regular Session concluded on June 27 with a bipartisan budget signed just in time to keep the government functioning. Gov. Hobbs broke her own veto record, vetoing 174 bills (many of which were voter suppression bills that the league opposed), compared with 143 in 2023, her first year in office.

After two years of hard work researching, writing and editing, an incredible team of League members have published an illuminating white paper on Arizona redistricting and the role of the Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission (IRC).

CALLS TO ACTION

Unite and Rise 8.5 Action in Arizona

On May 1, the League of Women Voters launched Unite and Rise 8.5, an ambitious initiative to mobilize 8.5 million voters through civic engagement, education, and advocacy. As part of the broader Women Defend Democracy campaign, this initiative highlights the many ways voters can drive real change in their communities.

Unite and Rise 8.5 is a nonpartisan, non-violent initiative to engage and mobilize 8.5 million voters by the 2026 midterms through civic education, public mobilization, legal advocacy, and partnership-building—with opportunities for everyone to get involved, from local outreach to national action.

National Actions

Hold Congress Accountable for the One Big Beautiful Bill
The One Big Beautiful Bill Act was enacted in early July. As members of Congress head home to connect with their constituents, it’s time for us to let them know how we feel about the bill.

Tell Congress Not to Gut Medicaid     Contact Your Representatives

Reject Anti-Voter Policies
The House of Representatives passed the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which would require citizenship documentation to register to vote—even though voters in every state are already required to affirm or verify their citizenship status when registering.

The SAVE Act would create one more barrier to the voting process, as many eligible voters do not have easy access to the necessary documents.

Tell your Senators to oppose the SAVE Act.
